Only Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) accredited by the NSW Vocational Education and Training Accreditation Board (VETAB) and approved by WorkCover can deliver OHS general construction induction training in NSW.
How do RTOs register with WorkCover
To deliver general induction training under the National Code of Practice for Induction for Construction Work (National Code) in NSW, RTOs must:
RTOs must nominate the trainers who will deliver the training services on their behalf by completing the Add or Remove a Nominated Assessor or Authorised Officer form. WorkCover must be notified of any changes to the nominated assessors or authorised officers within 14 days of the change.
RTOs must notify WorkCover of any changes to the principal place of business, postal address or contact details by completing the Change of Contact Details form within 14 days of the change.
OHS general induction training must also be delivered in accordance with the code of conduct.
How do I become an RTO
To become a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) you will need to contact VETAB at vetab@det.nsw.edu.au or call 02 9244 5335.
Assessment and recognised prior learning
WorkCover mandates the use of standardised assessment and recognition of prior learning (RPL) tools that have been developed by the Construction and Property Services Industry Skills Council. They can be downloaded free from http://www.cpsisc.com.au/skills/WELL_Products.
The tools are used for individuals that undertake OHS general induction training or have a RPL assessment. Assessment can be undertaken as an individual or by group assessment of up to 20 participants.
