The claims excess arrangements provide employers with an additional incentive for early reporting of injuries to enable early injury management to be implemented. Implementation of early injury management will assist in reducing the cost of claims and help to improve return to work outcomes for the injured worker.
Under the
Insurance Premiums Order, the claims excess payment is the equivalent of one week of the injured worker’s weekly compensation.
The claims excess payment will be waived for an employer if the injury is notified within five calendar days of the employer becoming aware of the injury.
